DR. HEATHER LIGHT NAMED ROLLA MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

The Rolla School District is proud to announce the selection of Dr. Heather Light as the new Rolla Middle School Assistant Principal, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Light is set to begin her 26th year in public education, all at Rolla Public Schools. During that time she taught grades 1-4 at Wyman Elementary and grades 4 and 5 at Rolla Middle School. Dr. Light holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Drury University, a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Doctorate of Education from Walden University.

Dr. Light is from Rolla and is a proud graduate of Rolla High School. She has been married to her husband Lawrence for 24 years, and together they have 2 boys; Brody (20) and Cooper (16). In her spare time, she and Lawrence spend time supporting their boys and their hobbies. Brody travels the state singing and playing guitar, and Cooper team ropes. She and her family love to cook, bowl, play games, and root for the Kansas City Chiefs.

When asked about her thoughts on the next chapter of her career, Dr. Light said, “I am beyond excited for this opportunity to serve as assistant principal at Rolla Middle School. This has been a dream of mine for a very long time. I love our town and our outstanding school district. It is an honor to have been chosen for this position working alongside Mrs. Davis and Dr. Fleming. It is also a privilege to get to work with an amazing group of teachers as we all work together to continue to serve our students and families. Thank you to my family, the board of education, and all who have helped me along the way!”
